Trinity Mirror North East is looking for a talented and creative Commercial Editor to work with our award-winning editorial teams in Newcastle and Teesside.
Working as a lynchpin between our editorial and commercial departments, the role puts you at the heart of an operation delivering impressive digital audience and revenue growth.
You’ll head up a team of commercial editorial writers and production journalists working across print, digital, video and social media platforms to create and publish compelling revenue-generating content that engages readers and delivers on clients’ expectations.
You’ll be involved in brainstorming, pitching, commissioning and delivering high-quality commercial content packages across a diverse range of subject matters and publication platforms.
You’ll organise and manage the publication of commercial content for print products (the Chronicle, Journal, Gazette and Sunday Sun) and digital platforms (ChronicleLive and GazetteLive, soon to be rebranded as Teesside Live), working with our editorial teams to maximise commercial opportunities around the content they produce, and creating bespoke packages for clients.
You’ll also act as an ambassador for the business externally as part of our senior editorial and commercial management team.
The Ideal Candidate
- You’ll be a trained journalist with at least two years’ experience. Full NCTJ-accredited qualifications are essential, and experience of print and digital production journalism is vital.
- A proven understanding of, and track record in, producing and managing content which meets legal and ethical requirements is important, and ideally you’ll have experience of working in a management role within a newsroom.
- You’ll understand the needs of commercial business partners and will be skilled at devising creative solutions which meet clients’ needs.
- You’ll be adept at using social media to find and promote content, and you’ll be comfortable using data and analytics to respond to audience and customer behaviour.
If you think you can bring these skills and attributes to our dynamic and fast-paced newsroom, please apply in writing with CV and a covering letter.
