Mirror Books, part of the Trinity Mirror Group is seeking a Commissioning Editor to help develop our commercial fiction and non-fiction lists. Our business is expanding rapidly and this is a superb opportunity to work as part of a small but dynamic team. with the mentality of a start-up while benefitting from the infrastructure a large organisation brings.
With at least five year’s commissioning experience, you will have a proven track record for spotting and nurturing author talent and an instinct for publishing strong commercial fiction and non fiction. You will review submissions, pitch ideas, negotiate contracts, prepare cover briefs, manage budgets and contribute to the strategic development of the business.
You will attend book fairs and other industry events, continuously keeping abreast of marketing trends and industry developments. Networking and building relationships with agents is key. You will be enthusiastic, optimistic, an expert multi-tasker with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
