Do you want to work in one of the country's most exciting newsrooms? ChronicleLive is one of the biggest regional news websites in the UK and our three newspaper brands, the Chronicle, Journal and Sunday Sun, are widely respected in the North East and beyond.
We’re looking for creative Content Editors to work at the heart of our newsroom and drive engaging and compelling stories and videos for our audiences online and on social media.
Our Business: Trinity Mirror plc
Trinity Mirror plc, with an award-winning portfolio of newspapers, websites and digital products, is one of the UK’s largest multimedia companies employing more than 6,000 people across 60-plus locations around the country.
Trusted, relevant, reliable and essential on social, mobile, desktop and in print, our loyal readers and advertisers are attracted by the knowledge, insight and vital services that our iconic brands (the Chronicle, Journal and Sunday Sun in the North East, and the Daily Mirror nationally, to name just a few) provide. None of this would be possible without our dedicated employees driving the business forward.
Working as part of a team of four and reporting to our Head of Content, you’ll be managing a team of news reporters and photographers who will provide words, pictures and video for our website, social media channels and newspapers.
You’ll be organising and managing the publication of engaging, legally-sound content packages - and making sure we’re getting the largest possible digital audience for those stories.
You’ll be commissioning a mix of content from hard news and politics to lifestyle and trending content, and will make sure we’re all over everything our readers are talking about.
You’ll need a deep understanding of social media as a way of finding stories and getting them to our readers, and you’ll make constant use of data and analytics to respond to audience behaviour.
The Ideal Candidate
Ideally you’ll already have worked on a daily newsdesk and have management experience or you’ll be a senior reporter looking to make the next step in your career. Above all we’re looking for a creative person with the right attitude.
At least two years’ journalistic experience and full NCTJ-accredited qualifications are essential, and management experience is desirable although training can be provided.
Trinity Mirror plc has a strong benefits package which includes, for this role, a competitive salary and pension (to be discussed at interview)
